DIAMOND HEAD
Diamond Head es otra de las docenas de bandas de NWOBHM. Irónicamente, es mejor conocido por tener algunas de sus canciones cubiertas por Metallica que por su propia carrera. Una de las bandas más influyentes durante su edad de oro, Diamond Head se formó en 1976 por Brian Tatler, Duncan Scott y el cantante Sean Harris, considerado uno de los mejores de NWOBHM(Nueva Ola del Heavy Metal Británico). Colin Kimberley completó la banda.
Aún sin un nombre definido, obtuvieron un pequeño contrato, mediante el cual lanzaron su primera cinta de demostración en 1978, y pronto asumieron el nombre de Diamond Head. Por el oscuro sello Happy Face Music, lanzaron su primer single, titulado "Shoot Out The Lights", que ya contiene una de las mejores canciones de la banda, "Helpless", la primera versión de Metallica. Este sencillo fue muy exitoso en el underground inglés, llevando a la banda a un extenso programa de shows y gran publicidad.
Su primer LP pronto siguió, tomando el nombre de "Lightining To The Nations". Este fue probablemente el mejor álbum de Diamond Head, que tenía varios clásicos, como la canción del título "The Prince" y la canción más conocida de la banda "Am I Evil?", También cubierta por Metallica. Fueron lanzados después de eso, el single "Sweet and Innocent" y el EP "The Diamonds Lights".
En 1981, la banda firmó con MCA y lanzó el EP "Four Cuts", que contiene el clásico "Call Me". El single "In The Heat Of The Night" también fue lanzado. El siguiente álbum lanzado fue "Living On ... Borrowed Times". Este álbum alcanzó el número 24 en las listas inglesas. La portada es un dibujo de Rodney Matthews.
En 1983 se lanzó el single "Makin 'Music", seguido del álbum "Canterbury", que a pesar de su calidad, no repitió el éxito de "Lightining For The Nations".
Después de la gran gira del álbum "Canterbury", la banda entró en el estudio para grabar "Flight East", pero fue despedida de MCA. Tal vez esa fue una de las razones por las que la banda terminaría en 1985. Brian Tatler formó la banda de pop rock Radio Moscow, que tocó algunas canciones de Diamond Head en sus shows. Con Brian, Radio Moscú grabó un EP. Poco después de su partida, incluso grabó el álbum "World Service".
Ya en los años 90, la banda se reunió en un show de Metallica para tocar "Am I Evil?" y "indefenso". Brian y Sean llamaron a Eddie Chaos y Karl Wilcox (bajo y batería, respectivamente) para la banda. Al componer un nuevo material, la banda comenzó a tocar en pubs en inglés con el nombre de Dead Reckoning. Entraron al estudio para grabar un EP llamado "Rising Up", ya con el nombre original. Después de algunos shows, Eddie Chaos dio paso a la banda para Pete Vukovic, con quien grabaron el álbum "Death and Progress". Pete continuó en la banda, y la gira de ese álbum se abrió para Megadeth y Metallica.
La banda decidió terminarlo de nuevo, pero dejando un último regalo para los fanáticos. Luego hicieron un último show en 1994, grabado en el álbum en vivo "Evil Live".
Regresaron a principios de la década de 2000, el cantante principal Sean Harris dejó la banda en 2004 y fue reemplazado por Nick Tart. En 2014 Nick fue reemplazado por Rasmus Bom Andersen: Texto: Felipe Stratton Matula (Whiplash).
